Keeper Quest League Rules

The following are the basic rules and guidelines for our league.

League Basics

  • 1) Absolutely under no circumstances will "streaming" of players be permitted. My definition of streaming is adding any player throughout the season simply to fill a roster spot on a given night. If I suspect you've done this you will be removed from the league immediately, I know it isn't against the rules technically but I believe it undermines the league and shows poor sportsmanship.

  • 2) I expect frequent activity within the league. If you are going to be unable to attend to your roster for multiple days/weeks please either preset your roster ahead and/or contact me just to know you will be away so I don't think you're neglecting the league. Should participation become an issue for any managers, you will be given at maximum 3 warnings before you are replaced.

  • 3) Collusion. If I suspect at any point you are in collusion in any manner with another manager you both will be removed. By collusion I mean for example, trading all your best players for their shit ones because you are doing poorly and are trying to fuck everyone else over. This, along with streaming are my two pet peeves and will not be tolerated. Ever.

  • 4) The league is set to Commish veto only because people have a bad habit of vetoing because they don't like a deal, so in regards to this I ask you respect everyone's decisions as they are the manager of their own team. It's alright to razz someone if you felt they got ripped off or could have done better, but please don't throw a hissey fit. If you want to complain about a trade feel free to email me and we'll talk but as I mentioned I myself am extremely vigilant about collusion, so if I think a deal has alternative motives I will veto it.

  • 5) At the conclusion of the 2010-11 season we will be keeping ten players, up from the 8 in 2009-10. The league also will feature a snaking type draft in both the prospect and regular draft rather than the non-snake of 09-10.

  • 6) The winner of the 2010-11 season will be rewarded with an NHL jersey, subsequent years are likely to include an entry fee for each team with a payout to the top 3 teams each year. More will be discussed about that in the coming months.

    Trading

  • 1) Trading draft picks can be done as I mentioned, however it can only be done if you are sending a draft pick back as well. It's just the way yahoo has the draft set up, everyone must have the same number of draft picks.

  • 2) Prospects and prospect picks can be traded freely, there is no maximum or minimum farm system requirements however please respect the system.

  • 3) When a trade is agreed upon involving draft picks, both managers must make a post to the message boards to state and confirm the picks involved.

    Farm System

  • 1) The rules regarding the minor league players are simple. Players can remain on the farm until they have played 100 NHL games, in which case you must call them up or they become subject to waivers. For goalies the limit is 72 NHL games.

  • 2) Currently once you call up a minor league player, they cannot be sent back down. However I am considering allowing a small grace period of games in which a prospect can be called up and demoted freely, though obviously a regular roster player would need to be dropped.

  • 3) Players not selected in the prospect draft cannot be assigned to the farm system.

  • 4) Obviously the adding of other teams prospects, either by accident or intentionally is prohibited. If you do happen to pick up another teams player then there is a chart to determine your punishment - it is draft picks - it can be found in the commish note and here.

  • 5) When "calling up" a player to your roster, make a post stating you have done such.

  • 6) Upon a player reaching his maximum games played for minor league purposes, the GM possessing the rights of that player has until game time of given players 101st game to add them to their PRO roster.

  • 7) Should a player not be recalled, the team possessing the highest Yahoo waiver priority having placed a waiver claim, will be awarded the player in question. This will use their waiver selection and their pick will then be relegated to the last priority pick.
